A New GCL

The growing global importance of Landfills and that of ground water beneath such structures brings the GCL into focus. The commercially available GCLs suffer from problems of improper encapsulation of the Bentonite powder, resulting in loss during transport and handling as also in uneven surficial distribution resulting in non-uniform impermeability. The shear resistance of such liner when employed along high slopes is also an issue of concern. Conceptually new GCLs have been developed employing novel methods of encapsulating the clay for avoiding any loss and achieving uniform permeability and high shear resistance. (Patent filed)
