The world's first disposable hearing
aid has been launched - and experts hope it will encourage
more people to address their hearing problems. The tiny
Songbird hearing aid has been designed to be thrown
away after just six weeks.
This means that users do not have
to worry about maintenance, battery replacements or
repairs. The US manufacturers say the Songbird hearing
aid will cost just £22 a month per ear, but tests
show it is just as good and better than some of the
latest digital hearing aids, which can cost as much
as £1,500 for the initial outlay.
