A rapid diagnostic test capable
of detecting AIDS virus within ten minutes has been
introduced in the country. The test, biosign HIV
1 -2 Rapid Whole Blood test endorsed by World Health
Organisation (WHO), can be performed anywhere and does
not require any instrument or special training,
a release by PMC Medical private Ltd. the manufacturer
of the kit said. This test is all set to help in containing
the spread of AIDS in the country, it said, adding before
being certified by WHO, the test was evaluated by various
reputed institutions including National Institute of
Virology, National Institute of Biologicals, National
AIDS Research Institute and National Institute
of Communicable Diseases.
"The test is done like any other
blood test and findings can be taken within ten minutes.
A Pharmacist in a laboratory can conduct the test,"
company managing director Niranjan Sheth claimed.
