Introduction

Regional Research Laboratory, Thiruvananthapuram offers process know-how for the manufacture of low smoke flame retardant ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA) cable material. The process involves a formulation by blending the components in a steam heated two-roll mill at an rpm of 40 at 120oC followed by compression moulding of the blended material in hydraulic press.

This has advantages of enhanced properties, cost effectiveness and indigenisation using local resources.
