Industrial Sewing Machine

Introduction

Mechanical Engineering Research & Development Organisation, Ludhiana, Regional Centre of the central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, Durgapur has Developed a 2 needle 5 thread safety stitch Industrial Sewing Machine of capable running at 5500 stitches/minute.

The machine is ideally suitable for wowing all types of closing seams of different garments and hosiery goods. The following type of operations can be performed simultaneously and continually with this machine.

  • Stitching 'Closing seams' with double chain lock stitch, type 401.
  • Edge trimming for equal margin from seam.
  • Over edging 'Trimmed edges' with three threads over lock stitch type 504.

Areas of Application

The machine is ideally suitable for wowing all types of closing seams of different garments and hosiery goods.

Advantages

The machine can be easily converted into 1 needle, 3 thread overlock machine for only seaming operation or 1 needle 2-thread machine for only hemming operation. Most of the critical components of these machines have been kept same to achieve standardisation and reduce cost of production.

Apart from the design of the machine, the development of complete production tooling for the commercial manufacture is one of the unique features of the development of this machine.

Stage of Development

Fully developed and available commercially.

Inputs required

C.I. Body of the machine, M.S. rods, S.S. wooden stand, etc. are some of the raw materials required.
