Iodine Value Meter

Introduction

'Iodine Number' represents number of centigrams of iodine absorbed by one gram of oil or fat. The instrument is based on change in potential across the sensing and reference electrodes when immersed in a mixture of test reagent and oil. The LCD display is a direct measure of Iodine Number. It consists of two sub-systems

Sensing System

It consists of two-electrode assembly one reference calomel electrode and other platinum working electrode fitted in holder. Sensing surface of each electrode must be dipped in the test solution of Iodine mono chloride of known strength and with fixed amount of edible oil.

Measuring and Display System

This sub-system measures the resultant potential difference across the two electrodes and relates it to iodine number, which is directly displayed on LCD.
