Prebleaching of Dissolving Grade and Paper Grade Kraft Pulps
Introduction
The process has been developed for prebleaching
of dissolving grade kraft pulp of hardwoods and paper grade
kraft pulp of variety of Indian raw materials viz. hardwoods,
bamboo, mixture of hardwoods and bamboo with xylanase enzyme.
Pretreatment of pulps with xylanases prior to bleaching reduces
bleach chemical requirements or permits higher brightness
and whiteness to be reached. Reduction in chemical charges
translates into significant cost savings when high level of
CIO2 is used. Reduction in use of elemental chlorine reduces
the formation and release of environmentally harmful chlorinated
organic compounds (AOX) in the effluent.
Environmental Aspects: No
adverse environment impact is envisaged. The technology helps
in reduction of organochlorine compounds.
Pulp and Paper industry, Dissolving
grade pulp industry, bleaching Reduction in expensive
chlorine dioxide by 4-5 kg/ton pulp - Cost saving Reduction
in elemental chlorine by 25% (10 kg/ ton pulp) resulting in
25% reduction in AOX in the effluent - reduction in pollution
loadIncrease in brightness and whiteness by upto 2 and 5 points
respectively (depending upon raw material, pulping process
and bleaching sequence etc.)
