Technology Description

Vidyut (meaning lightning or electricity) is an integrated, platform solution for electricity monitoring and control systems and is intended for use in energy management and Smart Grid applications. The system utilizes embedded electronics, software, communications protocols and server based intelligence to permit the system to sense and control electrical distribution and usage.

Vidyut is a platform technology that provides a number of intelligent control options to allow a wide range of potential energy management applications. Vidyut controllers can be used as intelligent electrical receptacles for individual appliances, or as controllable electrical switching systems to control larger amounts of energy. The Vidyut system supports smart metering capabilities. The various Vidyut system elements are designed to communicate over a wide range of networks and protocols, which is intended to provide system designers with maximum design flexibility. This design flexibility enables the Vidyut system to address smart grid applications ranging from residential energy conservation and management to larger energy management issues related to incorporating renewable energy sources onto the distribution grid.
