Technology
Algae Based Solid Waste Management Plant

Technology Description

The technology will be a self sustaining power plant which will convert solid waste to energy. This plant will use the containers to collect the solid waste. The methane will be used for burning (biogas) where as the CO2 will be used to cultivate blue green algae which will be then extracted using a centrifuge and it will be burned again to produce energy. The algae seeds which will be produced using tissue culture will be inserted into the centrifuge plant every couple of days which will ensure sustained working of the plant.

Applications

This technology will be used by the various municipalities and corporations in the state of Kerala for effective solid waste management

Benefits

Currently biogas plants are considered as the most efficient method of solid waste management which hardly takes care of the carbon emissions. This plant will successfully contain the carbon emissions and hence will be one of the greenest solutions ever presented.
