Dental X-ray Processor
Technology Description
This technology is an x-ray processing
system , a stand-alone device that automatically develops
x-ray film exposed in a dental office. The technology utilizes
standard x-ray film which itself is not new technology. The
uniqueness is that the innovator has developed a single piece
of equipment which automatically delivers every step of the
film development process including chemical processing and
drying.
The invention automatically develops x-ray film using a microcontroller
that has been programmed to deliver fresh chemicals at the
right time and to optimize the time (e.g., based on the room
temperature) each chemical is in contact with the x-ray film.
These chemicals are referred to as the developer, the fixer
and the washer. The device controls the timing and the temperature
for each. For example, colder temperatures require more time
for processing, while warmer temperatures require less time.
Thus, the invention has five modes to take into account various
temperature requirements.
Innovator has optimized the film processing for two manufacturers
of chemicals: Kodak and FOMA (Europe). His purpose for developing
the technology for dentists in India, was directed towards
the fact most Indian dentists cannot afford an automated system
to develop x-ray film. In the United States or other developed
countries that use digital technology, the vision of the innovator
is to offer the dental industry an inexpensive, reliable backup
system to develop x-ray film.
