Technology
Recombinant Protein

Technology Description

The technology is a special type of lectin based protein molecule called a recombinant protein that has two main functions.

First, three variations of the recombinant protein based made from a lectin have unique properties in which they seek out and bind to specific cancer cells. The proteins can be bound with either diagnostic or therapeutic agents and can be used to create either tests to indicate the presence of cancer, or more importantly, can be bound with specific cancer treatments and can thus be used as a therapeutic agent.

The second application is that the recombinant lectin proteins are superior to presently used Bolichos Biflorus Lectin proteins used to produce reagents for blood grouping at a much lower cost than those on the market today. Blood grouping reagents are used to determine the blood type of blood samples.

Potential Benefits of The Technology

Its cancer binding properties were very useful, and it could be easily coupled with other diagnostic and therapeutic agents to create new diagnostic tests and cancer drugs.
