Ipintentio IC Design Platform

Technology Description

This technology is a unique blend of a web-based platform and services enabling effective VLSI design flow implementation and management, education, training and online digital IP creation.
Primary features of the program include:

1) Incorporates various EDA tools. Lynx from Synopsys Inc. offers a similar platform, but is primarily built around the suite of EDA tools from Synopsys.

2) Provides a concept-based execution interface, thereby minimizing dependence on EDA tool-specific expertise and offers a standardized platform to train, execute and manage.

3) Covers the entire spectrum of a design flow as opposed to focused IDE`s such as Sigasi HDT and DVT Eclipse plug-ins.

The motivation for its development was to simplify VLSI design and improve accessibility. It offers a low-cost learning platform. The platform is accessed through a web browser providing computer infrastructure independence for the end-user. It is customizable to cater to specific customer needs and contains efficient collaborative mechanisms.
It caters to three distinct sets of customers:

1) Academia: Empowers to provide effective, hands-on industry-relevant education and training in VLSI design.

2) VLSI Design Industry: Ability to implement, execute, manage and monitor design flows seamlessly.

3) Individuals: Access to a ready-made online platform for digital IP prototype creation.

The goal is to deploy a standardized platform in academia and industry alike. The innovators purpose in developing the technology was to help bridge the industry/academia gap in VLSI skill development and benefit each stakeholder. It should also make VLSI design more accessible by allowing for low-cost and web-based development platforms.

It is envisioned to be primarily a complementary product, designed to incorporate existing flows and EDA software (open source and commercial).
