Technology Description
The technology is a new dye-removal material.
It consists of a composite particle having a "core-shell"
structure with the core made up of a magnetic ceramic particle
and the shell made up of a dye-adsorbing material.
This alternative dye-removal material can remove the textile-dyes
from an aqueous solution (textile-effluent) via surface-adsorption
mechanism under the dark condition (that is, without any exposure
to the sunlight or ultraviolet-radiation) in minimum amount
of time. So, it saves time and energy compared with the existing
dye-removal technology.

Benefits
- The new dye-removal technology works
on the surface-adsorption mechanism, which is an energy-independent
process (that is, it does not require any exposure to the
sunlight or ultraviolet-radiation).
- It removes the textile-dye from an
aqueous solution in less than 30 min under the given test-conditions;
while, the conventional materials take few hours for the
complete dye-removal under the same conditions.
- No costly chemicals are required for
the material separation after the dye-adsorption process.
- External magnetic field can be utilized
for the material separation which is not possible with the
present dye-removing materials.
