Energy Management using Wireless Sensor Networking
Technology Description
This is a technology
that a building owner or facility operator can use to manage
their energy and natural resource consumption and monitor
and control their carbon footprint.
The name of the technology is "Enterprise
Energy Management Using Wireless Sensor Networking Technologies".
The technology is a system comprised of
a number of devices and software. The devices include sensors,
actuators and controllers. The controllers are programmable.
They can be programmed to perform a series of actions based
upon inputs from the sensors, to log data or to perform a
notification or alarming function. The system is designed
for turn-key installations, but can be sold on a component
level.
The technology primarily allows a building
owner or operator to monitor and manage the facilities energy
consumption. A key differentiator in this technology is the
inclusion of wireless communications capability in the system,
thereby allowing easy, low cost installation and flexibility
in reconfiguration. The technology is designed as a low-cost
device solution, perhaps opening up a market segment that
would not consider such a building energy management solution
previously due to cost.
The technology roadmap includes application
in other natural resource control, including water and natural
gas, as well as building security and manufacturing line applications.
Target market segments for the technology
include: Intelligent Enterprise Management, primarily in small
and medium enterprises, Smart Energy Management, Physical
Security Management, Industrial Automation and Healthcare.
