Technology Description

This technology is a document management system, integrated into a complete standalone IT solution for small businesses. It organizes, version controls, and provides IT security for users' emails by collecting them into a document management database, sorting them, and assigning them as trackable tasks.

TMail is designed to enhance accountability and organization in small companies that do not have a dedicated IT staff. It is the final pricing tier of Syersoft's BlackBox product, an "IT in a box" solution designed to replace the CIO role with a server, firewall, ERP and support service. These companies often have little in the way of project management tools, and use long email threads to accomplish tasks. Since this system transfers emails from both internal and external sources into the document management system, it can streamline an extremely cumbersome process. TMail currently does not work without BlackBox, since TMail was designed specifically to organize data that is hosted by BlackBox.

TMail is purely an add-on product to Blackbox. Though it is currently operating in a separate, stand-alone module, only Blackbox customers may purchase TMail, since the integration of the two services is the major competitive advantage of this system. However, existing BlackBox customers have no switching cost; they are not currently using a competing system. Their BlackBox licensing fee simply increases to 2,000-6,000INR per user setup fee plus 15% annual license after TMail is deployed by Synersoft at the customer's location.

Neither document management nor "IT in a box" solutions are new; they are extremely well known technologies and competitive markets. However, the integration of email organization, project management, documents management and hosted IT solutions does appear to be a new offering for the India market and seems unique worldwide.

Synersoft has approximately 300 customers in India for their Blackbox product. TMail is an additional service targeted at them and at other potential Blackbox customers, and has been deployed to approximately 150 customers. These are small Indian businesses with 10 to 200 workstations and no dedicated IT staff.
