Technology Description

The technology is a cheaper method of producing insecticidal biopesticide based on Bacillus thuringiensis bacterium. The cheaper Bt mass production technology can be adopted by cottage industries, farmers and big companies / industries for eficient mass production of Bt biopesticide for the management of a broad range of lepidopteran insect larvae in agricutlure eco-system. Around 19 fold reduction in production and formulation cost can be realized as compared to existing commercial formulations.

The advantages of the technology as compared to commercially available formulation are:

1) 204 fold reduction in production cost
2) 19.5 fold cost reduction in final formulation
3) Minimum seed culture volume (0.25%)
4) Brief incubation time (less than 35 hrs)
5) No initial or midterm correction of pH during fermentation
6) Agro based cheaper and easily available production medium and hence no pollution or residue problem
7) Easily adoptable at village or large industrial scale level
