The technology is biological process that is able to produce nanoparticles of desired shape and size.

Nanotechnology is a rapidly growing industry in the world market. As the industry grows, it also requires a large supply of nanoparticles as raw materials for industries. At present the nanoparticles are synthesized by either a complicated physical process (which requires a very high temperature) or by environmentally benign chemical processes. Dr. Absar Ahmad at al from NCL Pune has found new strains of fungi and actinomycetes which can produce nanoparticles in a normal room temperature. The size and Shape of the particles can be controlled by manipulating the various fermentation parameters. This method would revolutionize the nanotech industry as it can remove all the economic constrains that hinders the growth of nanotech industry.
