Carcass Utilisation

Introduction

The process comprises collection of fallen carcass in a specially designed vehicle; transportation at low cost; flaying in a simplified manner; rendering and mincing; anaerobic treatment of effluents; composting / vermicomposting of the ruminal and intestinal contents. This approach keeps the environment clean and green.

Application/Uses: Meat meal and bone meal are used in animal/poultry/ pig/fish feed; tallow in soap industry; water effluents in sub surface irrigation for fruit crops and compost/vermicompost of ruminal contents for raising ornamental plants

Product : Process for integrated utilisation of all tissues of fallen carcass for value added products.

Commercialisation : Commercialised

Economy: 3-4 carcasses/day

Investment : Rs. 20 lakh

Equipment : Wet rendering cooker, meat mincer, drier and pulveriser.

Raw materials : Fallen animals (cattle, buffalo, goat, sheep etc.).
