| Keratin
Hydrolysate
Introduction
It is essentially a mixture of low molecular weight polypeptides,
in the form of powder, prepared by digesting keratinous proteins
with alkali, followed by concentration and spray drying. It
has potential use as retaining agent as well as filler in
leather processing industry. It's use in rechroming operation
improves the exhaustion of chrome. Considering its better
compatibility in comparison to the conventional synthetic
leather fillers because of its proteinous nature, a wide market
potential is envisaged for this product for the upgradation
of the lower grades of leathers by selective filling to ensure
imparting fullness.
