Introduction
Dog chew is essentially a value added product made from tannery
trimmings/splits used for keeping dogs/pups engaged in biting
the same to ensure that they do not spoil the furniture and
other household items. The process for preparation of dog
chew involves dehairing and deliming of tannery trimmings
and splits available abundantly in a tannery, followed by
sterilization, casting into various sizes/shapes and subsequent
drying.The unique feature is that the process provides an
eco-friendly as well as economical option to utilize tannery
trimmings/splits, which would otherwise add to disposal problem,
into a value added product, thereby creating value addition
and utility for byproduct of tannery
