Multi-voice
Text-to-Speech System
Introduction
The text-to-speech (TTS) system converts any computer readable
text into human-like synthetic speech. The TTS system is composed
of three basic parts: linguistic, phonetic, and acoustic module.
The Text Analysis Module converts the input text into a phonetic
transcription through morphological and syntactic analysis.
The module accesses a dictionary that has occurrence frequency
information extracted from the text corpus. The Korean text
analysis module performs two tasks: Korean sentence/Eojeol
segmentation; and Korean morphological/syntactic analysis.
The Prosody Generation Module predicts segmental duration
and amplitude of each phoneme, and pitch contour of the input
sentence. The module uses prosody rules extracted from the
speech corpus. The Korean prosody generation modules performs
three tasks: Prosodic phrasing; Predicting phoneme duration/amplitude;
and Predicting fundamental frequency contour of a sentence.
The Waveform Synthesis Module generates synthetic speech signals
by selecting and concatenating synthesis units. The module
modifies the synthesis units to fit predicted duration, amplitude,
and pitch. Specifications: Operating System: Windows/95/98/NT,
