Flame Fusion Technology for The Fabrication
of Fused Biconical Tapered (FBT) Single Mode Fibre Components
Introduction
Flame fusion technology for the fabrication of fused bicoxical
tapered (FBT) single-mode fibre coupler components
Salient features:
PC-controlled, motorised fabrication rig for good repeatability
with regard to excess loss and splitting ratio. Typical excess
loss ~ 0.2 dB @ 1300 and 1550 nm wavelengths, splitting ratio
in the range 20% to 80%. Couplers with any splitting ratio
(in the above range) can be fabricated for operation at any
desired wavelength.
Prospective Users: Fibre
optic industries and component manufacturers.
