Bovin Serum Albumin

Introduction

It is essentially a kind of plasma protein extracted from Bovine (Buffalo Blood). In this plasma protein systems, serum albumin occupies a paramount position, because of its relative abundance, its homogeneity, its electrophoreic mobility and its osmotic as well as transport functions. Availability in crystalline form has made it one of the most widely investigated proteins. Serum Albumin molecule consists of a single polypeptide chain of about 580 amino-acid arranged in a multiple loop structure in a right hand helix. Molecular weight of this protein is around 68000.
