Product/Process: Back-O-Kill -a pot for complete disinfection of water.

Application/use: To obtain potable water free of microbial infection; toxic contaminants like leachates of metals viz. Fe, Cr, Sn, Zn, Pb, Ni within WHO permissible limits.

Salient Features of Process/Technology: The device works on the principle of anodic oxidation. Passage of a small current in water produces active oxygen thereby destroying the microorganisms. The equipment consists of a chemical reactor cell powered through DC current or 22 VAC supply. The instrument can be preset to threshold energy level and for required treatment time. The user is informed of completion through an alarm as well as UV visual indicator.

Status of Commercialisation: Commercialised.

Minimum Economic Unit Size: 8-10 L water/batch

Equipment and Machinery: Bact-O-Kill available from CSIR licensee.

Raw Materials: Contaminated water required to be purified.
