National Environmental Engineering Research
Institute has developed an Instrument for detecting faecal
coliform contamination in water.
It is based on rapid multiple dilution technique for estimation
of faecal coliforms by MPN method. Within 12 hr, faecal coliforms
change colour of the medium from blue-green to yellow. The
instrument weighs 15 kg and has overall dimensions of 34x25x46
cm including an incubator measuring 16x22x30 cm
Areas of Applications:
It is used for rapid assessment of bacteriological
contamination in water under field conditions.
