for The treatment of Psoriasis
Introduction
The Central Council for Ayurveda & Siddha, under Ministry
of Health & Family Welfare has developed the technology
for above preparation.
Psoriasis is a chronic, recurrent papulo-squamous dermatosis
with silvery grey scaling papules of plaques. It is a commonly
occurring condition and constitutes 2-4 percent of all cases
of skin diseases One of the active principles Nimbidin isolated
from the oil of Malia azadirachta Melia azadirachta Linn (Nimba),
a common drug widely used in various types of skin diseases
in Ayurveda. A bitter solid isolate (nimbatiktam) was studied
clinically on diagnosed cases of psoriasis. The drug was administered
in capsule form twice a day for 60 days. There was significant
improvement in symptoms like etiching, roughness, exfoliation
etc. about 87% of the patients got relieved from all these
symptoms
Clinical Trials
Patient with well-defined psoriatic lesions with no complications
was taken for clinical trial. A daily intake of about 2400
calories containing of non-vegetarian diet rich in proteins
is provided.
Necessary laboratory investigations including routine blood
examinations like TC, DC, ESR, Biochemical examinations, L.F.T.
skin biopsy were carried out besides having photographs of
the case at different stages.

2. Well defined non-indurated, dry erythematous area with
silvery layer scaling (30% of body surface involvement)
3. The candle grease sign.
4. Positive histopathological findings.
Process
Using the bitter solid isolate nimbatiktam capsule are prepared
by mixing the ingredient. The powder is filled in the capsules.
The active principle is maintained as 200 mg. per capsule.
