Medicinal Technologies- Ayush 55 for
Obese Related Problem
Introduction
The Central Council for Ayurveda & SiddhaUnder Ministry
of Health & Family Welfare has developed the technology
for above preparation.
Obesity (Sthaulva) which is a common problem facing the people
from all walks of life, has been well described in ayurvedic
literature and included under medoroga. It has shown good
therapeutic utility in the treatment of conditions like arthritis
with high E.S.R. and B.P. to which obese are commonly prone
Clinical Trial- A double
blind clinical trial with ayush-55 in the form of tablet of
500 mg. each was conducted in cases of obesity
Results-Ayush-55 caused a significant decrease in systolic
and diastolic blood pressure. There was no change in the body
weight or in any of the body measurements. Ayush-55 caused
a significant decrease in erythrocyte sedimentation rate.
There was a slight reduction in S.G.P.T. and total lipids
during the drug treatment. The other biochemical parameters
did not show any variation during the drug treatment.
Toxicity studies
The results indicated that the drug Ayush-55 was free from
any toxicity or side effects at the dose tried in this study.
Process
The powder above plants materials to 100 mesh powder(Processed
in Nimba swarasa) in the prescribed proportion along with
some additives like starch, gum acacia, etc. and sodium benzoate.
The powdered drugs & additives are fed into a ball mill
for uniform mixing and the fine grinding. The mass is then
granulated. The granules are dried at 70oC in a hot air drier.
The granules of the desired size are fed to a heavy duty tablets
making machine. The tablets are strip packed to protect them
from the atmospheric moisture.
