Off-line
Rice Grading & Certification
Introduction
The
development of a system for classification and grading of
rice was implemented by carrying out off-line measurements
of visual parameters such as length, width, projected area,
perimeter for variety classification and determination of
milling quality such as broken ratio for grading. The developed
system generates statistical reports based on multiple tests
besides image and parameter database generation for specific
experimental studies. While some parameters were extracted
from images of rice grains captured using flatted scanner
and employing image analysis software, others were measured
from the reflective properties of rice kernel's structure.
