Formaldehyde
Measuring System
Introduction
The
formaldehyde has been reported to be highly allergic and is
carcinogenic. Formaldehyde reacts with chromo- tropic acid
in presence of concentrated sulphuric acid to give violet
coloured complex which is a measure of formaldehyde level.
The developed system is based on Lambert-Beer's law, comprises
an LED ( 583nm) as light source; sample holding system, detector,
current to voltage converter, log amplifier, display-31/2
digit. The test solution after color development is analyzed
with system to display concentration in ppm level.
Specifications
- Measuring Range: concentration (0.5
- 10 ±0.02 ppm) in solution.
Salient Features
- Direct display
of concentration in ppm
- Stable and dedicated reagents.
- No standard required for calibration.
- Portable and low cost analysis.
- Easy to operate.
Applications
Analysis of formaldehyde in water, air
samples
