Development of Tuning-Fork Liquid
Densitymeter
Brief Description
The instrument utilizes the technique
of measuring the resonant frequency of a tuning fork vibrating
structure. Two piezoelectric crystals are mounted at the base
of two tines of the fork which is immersed in the process
liquid. One of these crystals is excited by a signal sweeping
from 800 Hz to 1 KHz thereby bringing the whole structure
into mechanical oscillations. The amplitude of these vibrations
is sensed by the other crystal. The maximum amplitude of vibrations
corresponds to the resonant frequency of the whole system
mass which includes the liquid. The resonance frequency is
calibrated in terms of density.
Application
- Petroleum
- Chemical
