New Aroma Alcohols From Tagetes Minuta
Oil
Introduction
The process involves extraction of an
acyclic monoterpene ketone by solvent-solvent fractionation
and purification by column chromatographic method. The purified
unsaturated ketone is converted by simple reaction to spicy,
minty, fruity, sweet flowery, acyclic monoterpene alkyl &
aryl aromatic alcohols with good yields. Three alcohols prepared
have perfumery value and are useful in flavour, perfumery
and fragrance industry.
