Production of Lignite Briquettes
From Run of Mine Lignite
Introduction
A national research organisation offers a process for the
production of lignite briquettes from run of mine lignite.
By crushing/sizing/screening and pretreatment of powder lignite,
it can be fed to the briquetting press of high pressure capacity.
Thereafter these can be cured. The process is very simple
and can be adopted by small scale industries.
Environmental Considerations :
The process does not produce any gases etc. but care is necessary
to arrest the dust during processing.
List of Machinery/ Equipment:
- Crusher Vibrating screen
- High pressure briquetting press
- Waste heat drying plant
Languages: English
Energy : Major part of the
briquettes produced can be used in thermal power stations,
metallurgical reactors, pre heating furnaces etc. and as domestic
fuel etc.
The process is very simple. This is dependent on the size
of the plant. However, for briquetted products from the raw
lignite, it will cost about Rs. 100 per ton. Exact techno-economics
can be worked out on a pre-defined capacity.
