Matt
Glazed Tiles
The Central Glass & Ceramic
Research Institute has developed a Process to manufacture
single fired matt glazed ceramic tiles.
The process utilises the indigenous machinery,
simple dry grinding process, improved down draught kiln and
low grade raw materials, which are abundantly available in
the country. The cost of production is low due to significant
energy saving. The product has fired strength: 44 N/mm2, water
absorption: 0.5 to 1.0% at 1200oC and impact strength: 0.4-0.6
kg/cm2. The product is craze resistant as per IS:2838.
Areas of Application:
These matt glazed ceramic tiles can be used as Flooring
& facing tiles for buildings.
