Briquetting of Biomass Wastes

An Indian company offers a briquetting plant using biomass wastes. The plant consists of briquetting press, grinder, dryer, material handling and storage equipments. The process consists of grinding, crushing, drying and binderless briquetting, whereby the material is converted from loose form into higher compact briquettes. Solid fuel briquettes are an ideal substitute for fossil fuels. Agricultural and forest waste such as rice husk, groundnut shells, saw dust, cotton stalks are converted into solid fuel briquettes.

Areas of Application: The briquetting technology is suitable for farms, saw mills, paper mills, sugar and textile mills, rice mills, etc.

Advantages:

The briquettes have the following advantages.

  • Have a high calorific value
  • Burn evenly and steadily giving longer lasting fire
  • Have low ash content which means no pollution of the environment and longer life for your machinery
  • Clean and easy to store
  • Saving of cost in disposal or in storage of waste material
Equipment : briquetting press, grinder, dryer, material handling and storage equipments.

Raw materals : gricultural and forest waste such as rice husk, groundnut shells, saw dust and cotton stalks.

Stage of  Development: Commercialized.

Economic Data: The machinery can produce 1 metric ton of briquettes per hour.
