SEZ for Renewable Energy Systems

Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), a non-banking financial company under the administrative control of this Ministry, is envisaging formation of a Special Purpose Vehicle to facilitate setting up a SEZ for production of renewable energy equipment. Presently IREDA is in the process of discussing the issue with State Governments and private sector parties. One of the possible locations under consideration is near Nagpur, however the final decision with regard to setting up a SEZ would depend on various techno-economic considerations of investors.

This information was given by the Minister of State for New And Renewable Energy, Shri Vilas Muttemwar, in a written reply to a question by Shri B.K. Hariprasad in the Rajya Sabha today.
