Education
Policy (Draft)
The State of Meghalaya came into
existence on 21st January 1972. However, although a White
Paper was brought out by the Education Department in 1988,
there has been no attempt to frame a clear cut State Policy
on Education. The Constitutional Amendment of 1976 placed
Education in the Concurrent list of the Constitution of India.
This has brought about a sharing of responsibilities between
the Central and the State Governments. More importantly, for
a resource poor State like Meghalaya this has meant a welcome
infusion of funds from the Central Government. The State will
therefore, frame its policy within the broad parameters of
the National Policy on Education 1986(NPE1986) and share the
responsibilities and functions as partners with the Central
Government in the implementation of the objectives of the
NPE 1986.
Information
Technology Policy
The Information Technology (IT)
vision, mission, objectives, plans and strategies of the
Government of Meghalaya as enunciated below has been formulated
keeping in view the desirability for accelerating the State's
economic development and maximizing the people's benefits
through its widespread application in various spheres.
Mining
Policy 2010 (Draft) New
The Meghalaya Mineral Policy has
been drafted with an aim to facilitate systematic, scientific
and planned utilization of mineral resources and to streamline
mineral based development of the State, keeping in view,
protection of environment, health and safety of the people
in and around the mining areas. The Policy will also dwell
in ensuring optimal
utilization of available mineral resources, realisation
of vast mineral potential, generate revenue for socio-economic
development, uplift the economy of the State and enhance
employment opportunities.
Sports
Policy New
The Department of Sports and Youth
Affairs further acknowledges the importance of making every
youth, both urban and rural, to actively participate in
sports, games, physical education and youth activities towards
achieving a good health, a high degree of physical fitness,
increased performance in academics, accelerated individual
productivity and overall development of their personality.
Such activities are also a means of value addition to the
social responsibilities when the potential human resources
are moulded into a positive force. Achieving excellence
in sports, besides broad basing sports and physical education,
and creation of necessary infrastructure is the motto of
the State Sports Policy 2008.
