Biotechnology
Policy 2001
It has been said that the 21st century
will belong to biotechnology. Pathbreaking research in this
area in recent times has revolutionised the way in which scientists
view living matter. The announcement of the completion of
the Human Genome Project in June, 2000 and placing the available
human gene sequence database in the public domain has opened
up exciting new opportunities in the development gene-based
technologies.
Food Processing Policy
In the GO first read above, orders were
issued on food processing policy of Andhra Pradesh state and
extending various incentives and concessions to the Food Processing
Industries in the state. In the GO second read above operational
guidelines were also issued for implementation of the Food
Processing Policy in the state.
Industrial
Investment Promotion Policy 2005-2010
Industries - Industrial Policy 2005-2010
- Government have introduced Industrial Policy to drive industrial
growth by clearly spelling out various components of incentives
being offered, supply of quality power, improved infrastructure
facilities etc. It reflects the many location specific factors
that shape the opportunities and incentives for firms to invest
productively, create jobs, and expand. To remove the existing
barriers; and for creation of congenial and hassle-free investment
climate and also to boost investor confidence, a series of
proactive measures are being proposed.
Information
& Communications Technology (ICT) Policy 2010-2015 New
In order to promote sustained growth
of ICT sector not only to enhance the balanced regional socio
economic development but also to spread the usage of IT to
the last mile of the State for the benefit of common man,
Government has announced the ICT Policy 2010-2015 vide first
read above. The ICT Policy is effective for a period of five
years w.e.f., 07-07-2010. Further, in order to implement the
Policy pronouncements and initiatives, it was decided to issue
operational guidelines separately thereon.
Infrastructure
Policy
Government of Andhra Pradesh have decided
to undertake Mega Infrastructure Projects in the State to
attract Industries and for the overall development of the
State. As a first step taken to accelerate the sanction and
implementation of the Projects in a transparent manner, the
Government in the G.O.first read above, has constituted a
High Level Task Force and identified 31 Mega Infrastructure
Projects for immediate implementation with Private Sector
Participation.
Mineral
Policy
The minerals and metals have formed an
integral part of man's material needs. Even the various civilizations
have been named after minerals and metals like Stone age,
Copper age, Bronze age, Iron age and now the Atomic age or
Uranium and Plutonium age. Koutilya in his Arthasastra has
stated that "the wealth of the State is its source in
the mining and metallurgical industry; the power of the state
comes out of these resources".
Policy
for Small Scale Enterprises
Andhra Pradesh has embarked upon a Mission,
which is, to be at the forefront of industrial development
in the country by the year 2020. The Government is conscious
that fulfilling this Mission needs not only ideas and dreams
but also a lot of hard, realistic planning guided by well
spelt out policy directions.
Tourism
Policy 2010
Tourism is a major growth engine for economic
development in providing employment and eradication of poverty.
10.7% of the total "workforce in the world is contributed
today by the tourism industry. It has currently provided employment
to 212 million persons generating an income of 655 billion
dollars. The size of the industry is more than 7 trillion
dollars now.
Textile
and Apparel Promotion Policy 2005-2010
Multi-fiber agreement, which envisaged quotas of production
to different countries, has expired on 31st December, 2004.
This has opened up many opportunities for textile and apparel
industry in the country. Given its labour intensive nature,
Textile and Garment Industry can provide employment on a large
scale especially for young women. Andhra Pradesh is the third
largest cotton producer in the country. Hence Textile and Garment
industry requires special emphasis and focus.
