Indian Space Research
Organization is in the process of setting up of Indian
Space Science Data Centre (ISSDC) to process, archive
and disseminate the data from various Scientific Satellite
missions. This Data Centre will be utilized by various
scientists for investigations.
The Centre is being set up near Bangalore
and it is planned to make it operational by the last
quarter of 2008.
This was stated by the Minister of
State in the Prime Ministers Office and Personnel,
Public Grievances & Pensions, Shri Prithviraj Chavan,
in a written reply to a question by Dr. K. Dhanaraju
in the Lok Sabha today.
In reply to another question, the
Minister said that a study has been initiated for preparing
a feasibility report by the faculty of IIT in consultation
with ISRO scientists for developing a small satellite
(less than 100 kg weight),
The technologies developed during
this process may help in small satellite program in
future.
