Hyderabad: Dr K.S.
Jaganathan, senior scientist, Shantha Biotechnics, and
Dr Sharmistha Banerjee, a biochemistry lecturer in University
of Hyderabad, shared the BioAsia Innovation Award 2008.
Dr Jaganathan and Dr Banerjee received
the awards from Nobel Laureate Prof. Martin J. Evans
at the valedictory ceremony of BioAsia 2008 held here
on Saturday.
Dr Jaganathan and Dr Banerjee are
working on mucosal immuneoresponse and mycobacterium
tuberculosis respectively.
During Biocat the three-day
flagship biotech expo of the Andhra Pradesh Government
a biotech cluster of Catalonia, Spain (Europe)
signed a memorandum of understanding with the Federation
of Asian Biotech Associations for facilitating cooperation
between the biotech companies in Asia and those in Catalonia.
The International Crop Research
Institute for Semi Arid Tropics has also signed a MoU
with Maryland India Business Round Table, US, to work
together for exchange of agricultural technology and
commercialisation of agro-based technologies in areas
such as food processing.
