Avishkaar has developed a range of
leading-edge Next Generation products for the GSM Market
in India and the Globe. RAGé [Revenue through
Advertisements for the GSM enterprise], being one of
its premium products, guarantees delivering the fastest
return on operators' investments through advertisements.
By using the connecting time (minimum of 5 seconds),
which is the time taken for the actual connection to
be established between the caller and the receiver,
the RAGé technology utilizes this dead time to
advertise to consumers. The advertisements would be
initially voice, text and images, which would mature
to graphics with the transition of technology to 3.5G
when available.
The technology used for RAGé is based on the
client server technology:
User Interface will be developed
using MS Visual Basic
Component Object Model (COM) components
Database SQL Server/Oracle 8i
The Product concept deals with
utilizing the existing delay during the call process
in GSM networks. One of the features here is that the
caller can receive any other data or information in
the form of advertisement from the designed server before
he gets connected to the called subscriber. Once the
call is connected, the designed server is automatically
terminated and the caller can continue with the call.
The server that is designed is kept in any one of the
subsystems of the mobile network. The network standard
used here is GSM (global system for mobile). Using protocols,
the server is interfaced with the subsystem, and data
(advertisement) is retrieved from the server through
a database.
In essence, the client server stores
the data and broadcasts out the advertisements during
the dead time window. Due to the nature of a network,
the Avishkaar server needs to be integrated into the
service provider network, making MSP partnerships imperative.
Potential Benefits
of The Technology
The main aim of this technology is to utilize the delay
involved in GSM networks through advertising. The connecting
time for each GSM mobile call made includes at least
a five second "dead time" period. As such,
the Avishkaar team proposes the use of this dead time
to include the following product advantages:
The Mobile Service Provider
will charge the advertiser
Cheap and effective form of advertising
Mobile user is not charged for
the advertising period
Consumer gets additional airtime
free of cost or a concession on their bill, depending
on the MSP
Consumer can donate the free (additional)
airtime to charitable organizations
Consumer can choose not to listen
to the data (advertisement) for a particular call,
or permanently
Advertisement can be sent to the
calling subscriber (Outgoing Call scenario) instead
of Ringing Tone or "Hello Tunes", so that
a greater window is available for advertising
Product can also be implemented
by sending the advertisement to the subscriber "On
Request"
Avishkaar can implement the same
concept in different technologies like CDMA, 3G, PSTN
and other wireless technologies in the future
