-Blow Switch
Introduction
The device has been developed for rehabilitating severely
handicapped people who have the ability to blow through
their mouth as their residual ability. Developmental
work has been carried out for overcoming high cost of
similar imported devices and also their limitations.
A portable, low cost, stand-alone
device which could be operated either by battery (9
V) or adapter power. The device fits comfortably to
a human mouth and uses his/her breath to control switches
with definite functionality. The device is highly adaptable
and user friendly and could be customized as per the
ability of the physically handicapped to 'blow' air.
The device has multi mode of operation as per the residual
ability of the patient so as to operate many environment
control units.
Salient features:
Highly adoptable and user friendly; Can be customized
as per the requirement; Low cost; Portable electronic
communication aid
Prospective Users: Severely
handicapped persons having only residual ability of
blowing through their mouth
Status of Development: Lab
model and prototype completed
Major Equipment & Facilities
required: Electronic Components (Bread Boards,
PCB's, Resistors, Transistors, Relays, IC's etc), Soldering
Station; PCB Fabrication Unit; Testing Workbench (30
MHz CRO); Function Generator, Power Supply etc.); Workstations
with Relevant Software for Programming & for PCB
designing.
