The tilting- disc Heart Valve, after
successful clinical trials is now commercially available,
an indigenously developed remedy which holds a lot of
promise for persons with Heart Valve problems especially
those suffering from rheumatic heart diseases, for blocked
or leaking aortal and mitral passages in the heart.
The technology, conceived and crafted by the Sree Chitra
Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology
(SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram, was transferred by the
funding agency, the National Research Development Corporation
(NRDC) to TTK Pharma for commercial exploitation based
on its experience in the big?medical devices field.
