Prophylactic (Condom) Production Plant
Introduction
A leading UK based supplier of equipment
and technological services for latex and plastic dip
moulding and other specialised dipping applications
offers to supply prophylactic (condom) production plant.
Condom production is virtually always an automatic continuous
process. The process requirements are such that manual
or semi automatic production is impractical for a good
quality product. Careful control of the operating conditions
is essential. The plant incorporates a replenishment
tank and a chiller unit for temperature control. It
may be run on single or multi-shift operation according
to production needs. A run-down period of about 25 minutes
applies at the end of each working run. International
standards are specified to control quality of the product.
Laboratory controls, electronic testing for holes and
weak spots, and physical strength test must be applied.
The complete production equipment includes compound
preparation tanks and accessories, material testing,
post-production equipment, testing equipment and packaging
equipment up to foil wrapping. Cartoning is an optional
extra. Condom Packaging Machine This automatic horizontal
twin reel packaging machine has been especially developed
for condom packaging in strip form. Single packs or
multiple strips with easy separation perforations may
be produced. This machine has an operating sequence
of nominally 50 cycles per minute and can pack either
rectangular or square pack formats. The maximum pack
width as standard is 75 mm. A product counter is included
in the machine. Packing can be done with most heat sealable
laminated films utilising plastics, paper or foil.
The product is placed by hand on an automatic feed conveyor
for insertion between the twin webs of packing material
and the pack is sealed on all four sides. Pre-printed
reels of packing material are most commonly used but
additional facilities for print registration and date/batch
coding may be incorporated. Liquid filling during packing
is an additional option. The packing machine requires
a single phase electrical supply and clean compressed
air (150 litres per minute at 6 atm). The machine may
also be adapted for packing other products of a similar
size for special applications.
