TheDelhi State Industrial
Development Corporation (DSIDC) has played a key
role in shaping the industrial growth of the Indian
Capital city -Delhi, a throbbing city of some 10 million
people. Since it was established in February 1971, the
DSIDC has projected, aided, counselled, assisted, financed
and promoted the interest of small industires. Today,
Delhi has carved a niche for itself as a prospering
centre for small industries. The number of industries
in the city total nearly 100,000 making Delhi the epicentre
for a wide variety of industrial products including
high-value and high-technology goods.
Objectives of
DSIDC
The DSIDC's involvement in the industrial
growth of the capital is a success story. The main objectives
of DSIDC are as follows :
To aid, counsel, assist, finance,
protect and promote the interests of industries in
the Union Territory of Delhi.
To undertake procurement and distribution
of various raw materials.
To undertake and provide marketing
facilities especially to the small scale industries
of Delhi.
To acquire land develop them suitably.
To effect coordination between
large industries and small industries.
To promote and operate schemes
for the industries of Delhi.
To enter into arrangement with
Govt. of India, Delhi Government or any other Government,
or State, or Local authority for the purpose of carrying
out the objectives of the company.
To promote and develop industries
of all types including wholly Public Sector and Joint
Sector Undertaking.
To establish and maintain manpower
data to export manpower to foreign countries.
Industrial
Infrastructure : The DSIDC has constructed
944 industrial sheds spread across eight well laid-out
complexes. Most of them are located in the sprawling
industrial area of Okhla, which is home to many of
the small-scale industrial units. Using mostly low-level
technology but plenty of enterprise and perseverance,
they have made a mark for themselves. And the DSIDC's
unceasing resolve has been to promote and boost them.
Other areas which have benefitted from the DSIDC's
assistance to small-scale units are Jhilmil, Rohtak
Road, Lawrence Road and Wazirpur. Some of the Areas

In just 25 years, the DSIDC has
emerged as the lifeline of small industries and created
an environment which has transformed the city into
an industrially advanced centre, becoming a role model
for similar corporations across the country. Delhi's
small-scale industries produce goods which have greatly
contributed to exports. Delhi has come to be known
for quality products in the fields of garments, electronics,
machine tools, engineering items, surgical instruments,
etc
Technical
Consultancy : The DSIDC not only helps entrepreneurs
by providing plots and sheds but also recognises the
need for guidance in setting up Industries a crucial
input that can often make a vital difference between
the success or failure of a new venture.
The DSIDC's Technical Consultancy
Organisation (TCO) engages a group of highly qualified
experts in various fields, including electronics,computers,
mechanical, chemical, textile and handloom, leather,technology
and electrical. It helps entrepreneurs in identifying
projects, undertaking techno-economic appraisal of
projects and market research and survey. The TCO prepares
techno-economic feasibility reports and offers technical
guidance for upgradation of technology, diversification
and expansion of existing units.
A Data information and Processing
Centre is a useful source for information about machinery
and equipment and raw material produced all over the
country.
Besides, the DSIDC has a one-stop
information shop known as the Centre for Industry
Information which it operates in collaboration with
CMC and TIFAC. This provides information support to
industries and entrepreneurs on process and product
technology, emerging technologies, raw material inputs
and market opportunities.
Dsidc
Exports : DSIDC provides a faster, easier and
a safer way to reach overseas business centres. It
streamlines the document handling process, thus enabling
reductions in cost and turn around time. DSIDC has
now also been declared an Export House by the Government.
Raw MaterialThe DSIDC procures and distributes iron, steel
and fatty acids for the small-scale industries
of Delhi.
Testing Laboratries Testing
laboratories are a crucial must for industries once
the products begin to roll out. The DSIDC maintains
two laboratories at Okhla and Wazirpur for testing
electrical, mechanical and metallurigical items produced
by small-scale industries. The samples for testing
are collected from the door steps of these units at
no extra cost. Highly technical and qualified personnel
man these well-equipped laboratories. To cap it all,
the costs of testing here are unbelievably low.

Emporium is DSIDC's Conference and Business centre.
Provided with two conference halls accommodating 65
and 30 persons and three office rooms, conference
halls are equipped with the latest communication systems
for smooth and profitable functioning.

Emporium And Trade Centre : DSIDC urges entrepreneurs
to explore the services beyond its marketing facilities.

exhibiting the various facets of small units in Delhi.
DSIDC encourages and assists small entrepreneures
to exhibit and sell their products during the International
Trade Fair organised by ITPO.
