Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure
Corporation (APIIC) is committed for development
of industrial infrastructure in Andhra. The Corporation
has been appointed as nodal agency to execute work of
development of growth centre. Government of Andhra Pradesh
has entrusted certain local authority powers to the
Corporation like collection of property tax, maintenance
of common facilities in respect of certain industrial
estates and industrial development areas.
Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure
Corporation Limited (APIIC) was established in 1973
with the main objective of providing industrial infrastructure
for speedy industrialisation of the State. This initially
involved developing, promoting and managing industrial
estates. With the onset of liberalisation the Corporation's
activities have been diversified. It has inter-alia
diversified into few mega industrial projects which it
is seeking to develop in partnership with the private
sector.
Among the main functions of APIIC
is the acquisition of land at potential centres and
developing them with basic infrastructure such as roads,
power, water, construction of sheds and housing for
industrial workers. The Corporation liases with other
agencies for social infrastructure such as telecommunications,
banks, transport, container cargo depots etc.
APIIC has so far acquired 29,375.55
acres of land, constructed 3404 sheds and 4783 industrial
housing units.
The Corporation has been nominated
as the nodal agency for implementation of Government
of India sponsored schemes like:
Growth Centres
at Bopbili, Ongole, Hindupur with an expected outlay
of Rs. 45.00 crores each over 1,000 acres for each
centre.
Integrated Infrastructure
Development Centre at
Nandyal, Tada and Madikonda with an outlay of Rs.
5.00 crores each over an area of about 100.00 acres
for each centre.
It is working on a joint venture with
Larsen & Toubro on a fascinating project which aims
at developing Hyderabad into a Hi-Tech City'. It is
a part of the objective to support the growth of India
as a major software base.The project is based on application
of 'Virtual Reality' (VR) technique. The new visual
language communicates to all people at all levels and
has become a meeting place for the accountants, engineers
and customers.
