Dahej is located within the industrilised
area between Bombay and Ahmedabad. It is connected
with rail and road at the national level and it will
have an excellent port by year 2000. Upto the
year 2000, Vagra Taluka will enjoy incentives under
Category II type. There will also be availability
of skilled and unskilled labour in the vicinity.
Project
Dahej Industrial Park will be developed
on an area covering 6000 hectares of land and will be
located about 45 KMs from Bharuch City. Over and
above, development of infrastructure and amenities in
Dahej Industrial Park, GIDC is considering development
of townships for executives, managerial and other staff
near Dahej as well as Bharuch. Due to the port
facility and treated waste water disposal into the sea,
there is high demand for land from chemical and export
oriented industries. International shipping of
raw materials as well as finished goods will be possible
due to its proximity to the sea. Power, roads,
water supply and drainage capacity will be augmented
in phases.
Industrial Infrastructure
Roads:
Asphalt roads with a combination of eight, four and
double lanes. Provision of a central verge, foot-path,
flowering plants, etc has been made to achieve an asthetic
view.
Water Supply:
Water will be supplied from Narmada River near Ankleshwar
by pumping it to the park through a rising main running
75 KMs in length. The provision for distribution
lines, overhead & underground tanks, filteration
plants, etc. have also been made.
Drainage:
Treated waste waters will be discharged deep into the
sea so as to safe guard biological life and as per the
specifications layed down by the Gujarat Pollution Control
Board (GPCB).
Power Supply:
The power will be based on the demand of industrial
units. The power will be made available by the
Gujarat Electricity Board and required numbers of sub-stations
will be constructed in the industrial park. Underground
cables will be provided for street lights.
Amenities: The
amenities like fire stations, dispensaries, parks, gardens,
post-office, bus stand, etc. will be provided. Additionally
provisions for banks, a telephone exchange, hotels,
kiosk, petrol stations, repair workshops, etc. will
be made.
Private Sector Participation
Power: Due
to development of an industrial park at Dahej and townships
near the park, a demand for developing supportive amenities
will increase and these may be developed by the private
sector. One of the prime supporting amenities
required will be production of captive power supply
in the Dahej Industrial Park. Primarily power
will be supplied by the Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB).
However, considering the huge requirement of power for
chemical industries coupled with Government policy for
privatisation, there is ample scope of capitve power
generation.
Transportation:
Dahej is located about 45 Kms from Bharuch.
Considering use of raw materials and transport of finished
goods, there is scope for development of transportation
in the Estate by the private sector. Manpower
transportation from proposed townships nearby and other
locations like Bharuch etc may be developed too.
Telecommunications:
The services such as Internet Access are being planned
for effective communications. The setting up of
such modern communication systems will be given to private
companies on a yearly contract basis.
Industrial Security:
Security is of paramount importance in any sector of
life. There is ample scope for the development
of private security services within the Dahej industrial
park. GIDC has been utilising the services of
Private Security services on contract bases. Similar
arrangements may be made by private industries in the
proposed estate.
Liquid Cargo
Container: A special Liquid Cargo Container Depot
is to be set up with private sector participation for
import and export of raw materials and finished goods
from the estate.
Air Strip:
Executives and directors attending industries from different
cities like Mumbai, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, etc. will need
speedy transportation. Helicopters and small airplanes
may be often used and hence, there is scope for air
strip and helipad construction projects which may be
undertaken by the private sector.
Maintainence Services
The infrastrucutre facilities and
amenities will be provided by GIDC, the industrial park
may be declared as Notified Area in the near future.
The duties, etc of the Notified Area are like a Municipality,
hence once the industrial park is declared as a Notified
Area, the maintenance of services and recovery expenditure
will be done by the Notified Area Authority. Until
the Dahej Industrial Park is declared as a Notified
Area, the maintenance will be done by a Committee formed
by Industrial Units within the estate. The recovery
will also be done by this committee.
Environmental Management
The industrial units will be required
to treat effluents as per standards prescribed by the
Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB). Treated
waste water will be collected through a collection system
and will be taken to a pumping station to be finally
discharged deep into the sea so as to safeguard biological
life. Tree plantation, road side arboriculture
and waste pickup will be undertaken to keep the industrial
park clean. Parks and gardens will be provided
within the industrial park and all care will be taken
to ensure there is no adverse effect to the environment
within or surrounding the industrial park.
Conclusion
The Dahej industrial park is being
developed on 6000 Hectares of land and will be the largest
in the world. The industrial park will be provided
with modern infrastructure with high standard specifications.
Also different kind of amenities will be provided in
the industrial park. The maintenance of services
will also be state of the art, so the industrial park
is an ideal location to set up industries.
